Candy Shops | Holiday Parties

Behind every good man, there’s a good woman. Behind every Santa, there’s a hard-working Mrs. Claus.

Everybody loves a party, but not everyone loves to host one.

The title of this year’s annual Edina Chorale Concert, “What Sweeter Music Can We Bring?” proves to be an apt theme for the dulcet tunes that emerge from this diverse group of Edina singers.

Of the many morsels of wisdom that Edina cookbook author Carmela Tursi Hobbins has to offer, one of our favorites has to be this: Hosts should be able to enjoy their party just like any other guest.

Need – verb – requiring (something) because it is essential or very important

More Minnesotans this holiday season are coming to terms with the depths of that definition, and food shelves near Edina are planning to be ready to meet it.

When Edina resident, Megan Nickel, found that her fourth child would not take a bottle, she was left to pump her extra breast milk, and was soon faced with a freezer full of small white bags.  “I've heard mothers refer to breast milk as ‘liquid gold,’ and that is sort of how it felt,” she says.

In 1969, twelve women gathered in a neighborhood home to make a difference in their community, and to create some long-lasting, time-honored friendships in the process.

Sometimes, when the weather is cold and the kids are stuck inside, coloring books and movies just won’t cut it. With antsy kids at your side, what better way to spend the day than transforming the kitchen into a science laboratory?

Christmas may be for kids, but Christmas shopping is for adults. Get the best of both worlds at some of the coolest kids’ stores in the Twin Cities—which just happen to be located right here in Edina.

IN EDINA

Looking for a family friendly way to celebrate the start of 2012? The perfect party awaits at Edina’s Edinborough Park—no new year’s resolutions required.

It takes a village, in this case, to build a playground.

Give the gift of a good book in December. For the dad, uncle or book club member who likes hard-to-put-down narration, history and intrigue, wrap up Erik Larson’s In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin.

All’s fair in love and cupcake wars. Such is the case for Edina’s Sweet Retreat Cupcake Boutique, which was recently showcased on Food Network’s popular series Cupcake Wars, where four bakers face off throughout three elimination challenges until only the top treat is left standing.

You make the meal, let Hadley Table placemats make the table.
